"I knew she needed braces, but our dental insurance didn't cover orthodontics."
Zoya exudes joy. Even with the gleam of metal on her teeth, she smiles all the time.
Several years ago, her mom knew Zoya was going to need braces pretty badly. All of her adult teeth were growing in crooked. Her mouth was very crowded with no room for more teeth, but their insurance didn't cover orthodontics.
A friend of a friend of Zoya's mother worked for Dr Sparkman and set up an interview for Zoya for the Brighter Smiles Initiative. "I was really excited," Zoya's mother said. "It was a tremendous blessing." Zoya was accepted and got her braces on October of 2015. She's got three more years to go.
"I'm happy about it because I know when I get the braces off, my teeth are going to be a lot straighter. I will feel great when I look in the mirror because I can smile better."
Because of the Brighter Smiles Initiative, people will see Zoya in the fullness of who she is – her joy and exuberance will truly be able to shine.
